About the Artist

lauraeLaurae Richards is a wife and mother of six. She started going to Haiti in 2000, and fell in love with the country and people there. She started painting from her experiences in Haiti and her art captures her love and passion for the people. The paintings evoked strong emotion in people, especially those who have been to Haiti. Laurae started a non profit organization in 2005 called Servants for Haiti Inc. whose desire is to help Haiti’s impoverished children to become leaders in their homes, churches, communities and nation by supplying them with the care they need to survive and thrive. Laurae has led a number of trips to Haiti, aiding in the construction of a school and church. Half of all her proceeds from sales go back to Haiti, by aiding in sponsorship and helping pay for continued trips were she can serve the Haitian people.

Laurae Richards has taken lessons in art over her lifetime. In the later years after finishing a business degree at Gordon College, Wenham MA she went on to study art at Rivier College Nashua, NH and the Museum of Fine Arts School, Boston MA. It has only been since 2002 that her art has incorporated images of people. She has won a number of first place awards and has been commissioned to do art work for a collector’s coin. She has appeared in solo shows as well as group exhibits.
